Camp Ireland 2011Camp 11-14’s - West of Ireland Centre, Sligo - 1st - 6th August 2011Once again Camp Ireland this year was a great success. The Camp site with its stunning views provided the perfect location for fun, activities and fellowship and we thank God for the fantastic weather. This year we welcomed groups from Londonderry, Ballymena, Belfast, Lisburn and Craigavon. The days were jam packed with activities such as archery, mountain biking, canoeing, volleyball, arts and crafts, football and much more! The theme this year was Camp Ireland’s Big Sports Day and over the course of the week, the six teams (Spartans, Hawks, Warriors, Cyclones, Titans and Vipers) went head to head for points. It all finished off with a big sport’s day competition on the Friday in which every leader and camper took part. As well as all the activities, Camp provided the perfect opportunity to meet new friends, enjoy great grub and have plenty of craic! With camp songs, camp fires, smores, talent shows and team building games there was never a dull moment. Each evening we had teaching sessions where we looked at the life of Peter. Through DVD, group discussions and God’s Word each camper was challenged through the story of Peter, to live for God and put him first in their lives. It was fantastic that 15 young people over the week committed their lives to God and with the bands help on the Friday evening we celebrated all that God had done throughout the week. Many young people and leaders got on the bus to head home with sadness at leaving but with joy at what God had done. It just makes me feel one thing – I cannot wait until next year. Make sure you don’t miss out!
