Newtownabbey Area Joint Church Project 2011
From January to May 2011 Crown Jesus undertook an evangelistic project in partnership with 14 local churches in Newtownabbey. We were blessed to have fellowships involved from many different denominations. The initiative had something for all age groups – kids, young people and adults. It involved everything from prayer nights to puppets training days; schools work to a street reach programme. Below are some of the highlights of a great programme. Gala Dinner with Nigel Benn:We were thrilled to see almost 400 people turn up to the Gala Dinner from all parts of the City. Former world boxing champion Nigel Benn and Tim Saiet were a hit with the crowd and we thank God for the impact of the night and the many seeds that were sown. 1-Way Youth Event:Almost 800 young people packed out the Valley Leisure Centre for a fantastic high-tempo night. Many different guests like Al Johnston (professional football free-styler) not only entertained the crowd but also shared the greatest message of all that Jesus saves and nearly 50 young people responded at the end. Directions and the Journey:Around 300 adults came out to Directions, our 5 night evangelism training course. The hope was to inspire people to live out their faith in a real and life-changing way. Many encouragements were shared over these nights together. On the back of Directions we ran the Journey: our Alpha-style evangelistic course. 80 people attended this and we were delighted to see 7 adults give their lives to Jesus during it.
There were 13 major events run in Newtownabbey, much work carried out with individual churches and over 50 preaches completed allowing us to communicate God’s Word with thousands of people. There were many highlights through this project: 100 people responding to Jesus, many Christians encouraged in their faith and witness, churches united together in love and focus and ultimately God’s name being glorified. We pray that the seeds of unity and outreach will be protected and grow into something even more wonderful in the future and that God will hugely bless His Church in Newtownabbey. |
