The Bible is full of truth that lets us see that prayer is a powerful tool in the hand of every Christian.

John 14:12 "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that I may bring glory to the Father."

Jesus says in verse 12 "greater things" than He did, we will do. This is obviously a promise of power for every Christian. He then says that this power will come because He is "going to the Father." Jesus had to go to the Father to send us the Holy Spirit. So this promised power for every Christian will come through the Holy Spirit. Verse 13 shows us that the promised power of the Holy Spirit for every Christian is released by prayer. It says "And (any verse starting with "And" is directly related to the verse before it) I will do whatever you ask in my name..." Prayer is the key, Hallelujah!!

The Bible tells us that "The prayer of a righteous man is both powerful and effective" (Jam.5:16). Why? Because "God hears the prayers of the righteous," (Prov.15:29). Whether we feel righteous or not, as Christians we are because of Jesus (Eph.1:4), so all of our prayers make a difference. Is it any wonder the Bible says "Devote yourselves to prayer being both watchful and thankful" (1 Cor.7:5) and "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess.5:17).
